I want this!

Tighten your seatbelts! Today’s Virgo New Moon is the first in a series of three Super New Moons coming our way over the next few months.

These three Super Moons will culminate in December with what is known as a “Total Solar New Moon Eclipse.” This Eclipse brings promise, change and opens the door to a new beginning.

A Super Moon Super Cycle

Every New Moon is the beginning of a new Lunar Cycle. Indicating a fresh start, a breath of fresh air after what may feel like a time of stagnancy. This upcoming lineup of Super New Moons completing in a Solar Eclipse symbolizes a shift and movement into a new paradigm, ending a year of strife with a positive event.

What seems to be a common theme of the last few cosmic events, from the five retrogrades to these Super Moons, focuses on dismantling structures that no longer serve us. Although understand that the shift is necessary and that the work we are doing will eventually bring change, it still feels as if we have stalled. This psychological and emotional feeling has been heightened thanks to the quarantine and our inability to physically move.

The Super Moons and today’s Virgo New Moon is what we can call the official start to this change. The key to this change is to be slow and gradual. All of this is for something: we are preparing ourselves for the good coming our way following December’s Solar Eclipse. Start making room for something new, exciting and inspiring to emerge.

Understanding the Lunar Cycle

In the Lunar Cycle, each month features both a New and Full Moon. The New Moon is always in the sign of the current transiting Sun sign. The Full Moon in the sign opposite to the transiting Sun sign; this Virgo season featured a Full Moon in Pisces and a New Moon in Virgo.

During Libra season next month, we will experience both an Aries Full Moon and a Libra New Moon. Each New and Full Moon comes with different energies, different aspects, and light up other areas of our charts. To make the most of each cycle, you must have a birth chart. Get yours here.

Each new Moon symbolizes the end of one cycle and the start of another, new 28-day period. When a New Moon occurs, it’s called “Sun conjunct Moon.” It empowers us with a liveliness and a burst of energy and inspiration to take on new endeavours.

This is the best time to set projects and new undertakings in motion. I usually use the New Moon each month to set new goals, intentions, and hopes. I journal and write them out as I perform a new moon ritual, and then, six months later, when the full Moon in the same sign comes around, I revisit and check in on the things that I had begun.

It’s a beautiful way to see cycles, patterns and learn how to healthily look at old habits as you seek new and inventive ways to break free from what is no longer serving you.

September’s Virgo New Moon

As usual, aspects in 2020 come with extra oomph. This Virgo New Moon brings with it what is known as a “Moon Wobble,” a phenomenon that happens when the Moon connects with the lunar nodes in a 90-degree angle.

The impact of this? More energy, more emotion and the feeling of imbalance or “wobbliness.”

Yes, this sounds uncomfortable. But it can provide profound spiritual awakening and exponential inner growth. It could be a refreshing breath of air if you open up and lean into it; avoidance will not serve you. I promise the instability and unease will be worth it.

This year has come with its ups and downs. And we’ve all done such a great job of weathering the storm, so hang on for a little longer, and it’ll be worth the wait.

Retrogrades and The New Moon in Virgo 2020

A New Moon with so many planets in retrograde may seem a bit confusing. Energies may feel further out of whack, and we may desire to act out during this time of instability. Especially with Mars in Aries retrograde, there will be extra aggression, confrontation and can create strife in everyday situations. Be aware of your immediate reactions to things and watch your words.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and anxious when the world has shifted so much. As we near significant events on the world stage, we may feel absorbed by the disorder and panic.

Suppose we can pull back, move inwards and focus on ourselves. Then, we can emerge more connected to one another and our humanness. Move your awareness from external to internal. The whole experience of 2020 will change for you and those connected to you.

Depending on your awareness here, you can use today’s New Moon in Virgo 2020 to add to the collective panic, anger, hurt and confusion or connect deeper with the Universe. You are empowered to make a choice.

Shifting Perspectives

As we end the year, things are not going to suddenly go back to normal. We have changed on every level, each individual, each cell and each microorganism. Holding onto the hope that we will go back to how it was will stunt your growth and our collective progress.

Remember this as we move through the last part of the year. Push past the anger and resentment, the what-ifs? and why me’s? – understand that there are forces that are actively trying to divide, break and challenge our natural connectedness.

If you keep your focus on the good you want to bring to your life, you can actively move past the fear-driven distractions from the outside world.

Harnessing Virgo’s Unique Energies

The Mutable Earth sign Virgo symbolizes the healer. Through its teachings, we are inspired to connect with our humanity and welcome nature’s healing power into our lives. With the Virgo New Moon 2020, taking time to understand the beneficial healing we get from connecting with the earth will help us recharge and reenergize.

Take a walk, eat healthy, natural foods, and replenish your system today. We thrive in Virgo when we build routines and rituals for ourselves around work, health and boundaries.

Virgo rules the 6th House of work, health and routines, so examining these areas of your life for the next week can be illuminating. New Moons provide the extra energy and push we need to change and grow, so use the power to review what your work life or health needs to change.

Along with the 6th House, Virgo also reigns over the digestive system and connects our mind with our guts. What are we putting into our bodies? Beyond food, what are we feeding ourselves emotionally and mentally? How are we digesting these external things? If we can be clear about what we are holding on to, we can realize its impacts and what we are digesting and absorbing into our bodies every day.

Consider what are you having a difficult time processing, digesting, and removing from your life, physically and emotionally?

Health is of importance with the Virgo New Moon. Support your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing with the energy that this New Moon provides. Break mental patterns and connect with yourself on a deeper level.

Trust in yourself. Everything you need to progress forward is inside you, and the Universe is here, always protecting you. As we move through the next few months, remember that you have the choice of what you spend your time on. What you focus on, and what you consume, physically, emotionally, or mentally. Go beyond and rise above.

Making the Most of the New Moon in Virgo 2020

As I mentioned above, I use the New Moon and Full Moon cycles to help unblock my life and build new positive habits. If you’re looking to harness the New Moon’s focused, earthy power in Virgo, but are not sure how to get started, here are some journaling prompts to get you started.

  • 1. Identify an area of your life that you’ve been looking to grow, nurture, or enliven. Is it about health? Routines? Is it about your relationship with your body? Your self? Are you looking for balance? What patterns are you running, and narratives have you been stuck in?
  • 2. Once you’ve identified it – write your intention down. Keep it to one line, and start off by saying, “My intention is to ________.” Provide a time frame if you’d like.
  • 3. Say your intention out loud. Manifest it!
  • 4. Take some time on the actual day. The New Moon bestows electrifying energy that can be harnessed to make dreams come true. Tap into it.
  • 5. As time goes by, check back each week and see how you’ve progressed. As the Moon changes throughout the month, you can time your journey with the waxing and waning,
