I want this!

Great news, after several months in retrograde, Saturn goes direct on September 29th, 2020. This is the final movement of Saturn in the restrictive, cardinal earth sign, Capricorn.

Ever since Saturn entered Capricorn back in December 2017, we’ve experienced a massive shift in ideas, concepts and our collective understanding of our world.

The natural ruler of Capricorn, Saturn, finds joy when it is stationed in this sign. Capricorn is the sign of the institution, structures and the sign of rules, government, authority, conglomerates, army, societies, and everything that comes to us from the top down. Not only does a retrograde Saturn in Capricorn bring changes in these areas, but coupled with Pluto in Capricorn, we have a seriousness and severity about this transit. Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn put us in a position to “grow up” or change how we have existed, personally and societally.

Saturn empowers us to grow by pushing us to follow the rules, take care of ourselves, and find self-sufficiency.

Pluto asks us to put on our adult pants by taking away our creature comforts. By removing our sense of safety and comfort and pushing through the discomfort, we can develop resilience and build real personal power.

We’ve all contended with this combination this past year. Our understanding of personal and wide-scale security and safety has changed. Let’s dive a bit deeper into what Saturn Direct 2020 means for you.

Saturn And Pluto In Capricorn – Resilience

When Pluto met with Capricorn in Saturn early in January of this year, it brought with it a pandemic, a subsequent lockdown, and change rippled through political systems across the globe.

A central theme of the last few blogs I’ve written has been how 2020 has tested and changed our perspectives. This is not just internally, but as a society as well. And while we may be fatigued by it all, we must elevate and grow. Saturn and Pluto’s job to test us and, through it, empower us to become resilient and self-sufficient in a more significant way.

Remember the wise words of Friedrich Nietzsche, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

Pluto and Saturn have shown us that despite the heaviness and change that it may bring, we come out stronger in the end. We are working to become our most complete selves and to bring balance to an imbalanced world. Saturn and Pluto’s connection inspires us to survive, thrive, and make the most of a crisis.

Saturn Direct 2020: the Great Teacher

As of Today, Saturn and Pluto are sitting 3 degrees from one other. This 3-degree difference may pull us backwards and force us to revisit some of the heavier, soul-work we were contending with early on in the year.

Do not despair. From today, September 29th, 2020, Saturn and Pluto will part ways. This 3-degree aspect is the closest that these two outer planets will get to one another, and we have another 30 years until closeness in degrees happens again. We can happily say goodbye to this period in history and welcome a fresh start.

Take these lessons that Saturn, the “Great Teacher,” imparts on you and understand what they mean in the scope of your life. We will soon learn the purpose behind these lessons and how we can reap their benefits. No other planet, not even Uranus, can teach us the truth of life as Saturn can. No other planet can bring us truth and understanding, and ultimately the gifts, that Saturn can.

Mars in Aries square Saturn in Capricorn

Saturn has been slowly turning direct since the 25th, lightening the mood a bit, and adding some play and whimsy to our weekends. This levity is short-lived. When Saturn goes fully direct today on September 29th, it meets Mars in a square, creating tension and frustration. We may feel stuck, unable to make a move or enact the changes we desire. Read more about Mars Retrograde and Saturn here.

This is the second square that Saturn and Mars have connected in, the first being on August 24th of this year.

Mars is pushing us to go, go, go, and Saturn is saying stay still; we are being pulled in two directions. Aries gives us the desire to push forward and grow, but Capricorn is telling us that we still must wait. Again, we will feel tested. But yet again, we can learn. Understand your true motivations, drives and inspiration here.

Dig deep into the why and understand what is pushing you to do the things that you do. Is it because you’ve always done it? Understand your limitations and where you have stopped growing. Assess and learn what obstacles have been in your path in the past and how you can remove them. Here is where you troubleshoot and have the power to creative problem solve.

These energies can help you remove the real and imaginary obstacles in your path forward.

Take this square between Mars and Saturn and fuel your passions. Become aware of what you deeply desire, and throw the rest away. Once you reach this place of clarity and insight, everything else will fall into place.

Saturn Square Mars: Hard Work Now, Party Later

To find this crystal clarity, you need the action and impetuousness of Mars and the rigidity and education of Saturn. Mars in Aries has the drive, but no discipline. Saturn has the discipline but can become stifling to passion and creativity. The two go hand-in-hand and push you towards growth. And while Mars in Aries is one of the most impatient aspects and Saturn in Capricorn one of the more steadfast placements, you must find patience and learn that there are no shortcuts. Saturn will show you how to get where you need to get, and that the effort is worth the wait.

Do the hard work now, and party later. You have this aspect on your horizon from now until November 14th. Use it wisely.

Saturn Direct 2020 – Opportunity is Knocking

Saturn’s movement into the final section of Capricorn is a significant time of the year. We’re approaching the end of this three-year cycle, culminating on December 17th, 2020, when Saturn fully exits the earth sign. Consider this your official warning: you have two months left to realize the lessons and wisdom that Capricorn is imparting on us.

Ride out the tension and frustration from the Mars and Saturn Square. Be open to good days and bad days as you navigate these final two months. Understanding and acceptance of the good and the bad will leave you ripe for revelations and profound inspiration. You probably already know what you need to do. You know what needs to change, and you know the topic or area of your life that needs your attention.

To figure out what part of your life will get the brunt of the shift (if you don’t know already), check out what house rules Capricorn in your chart. Unsure of where it is? Grab your birth chart here.

Saturn’s transits are heavy and demanding, but they are vital to our growth as human beings. They point us towards the things that we MUST do in order to have a fulfilling and rewarding life.

A piece of advice: don’t avoid. If you do not answer Saturn in Capricorn’s call by December’s shift, you will be left scrambling when Saturn finally moves into Aquarius. Dive deep now, so the new year begins in joy.
